Exploring Air Quality

Understanding visual displays of information

You may have heard that driving while texting is dangerous because it can impair a person's ability to react to threats on the roadway, causing an increased risk of being involved in an accident. To investigate this claim, a group of researchers measured the time it took people to react to a change in driving environment while writing a text message. Play the animation below to see this data represented in a dotplot, histogram, boxplot, and stem-and-leaf plot.
